This project started with a call from a North Hampton homeowner near the town library who had hired another company a few years earlier for a complete garage upgrade — epoxy floor and cabinet installation. By the time they called us, the floor was already failing. The coating was coming up in chunks, the concrete underneath was cracked, and the original cabinets weren’t holding up the way a well-appointed home deserved.

When we ground the old coating off, the problem became immediately obvious: no moisture vapor barrier had been installed, and the surface prep had been poor from the start. Without an MVB, moisture pushing up through the slab had nowhere to go — it built pressure underneath the coating until it simply let go. The cracks in the concrete had never been properly filled before the original install, compounding the failure.

We started over from the slab up. After grinding, we repaired all the cracks, then installed a full moisture vapor barrier as the first coat. The floor was finished with a 3-coat system — epoxy mid-coat with a tidal wave flake blend, sealed with a polyaspartic top coat for UV stability and long-term durability.

For storage, we removed the original cabinets entirely and installed a DuraGarage 2-tone system — black cabinet boxes with Dover Gray powder-coated doors and custom black base trim — along with gray slatwall lining the walls for flexible tool and gear storage. The result is a garage that finally matches the quality of the home it belongs to, and a floor built to handle North Hampton’s coastal conditions for the long term.
